John Watson (he/him)

I am a printmaker and illustrator based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I undertake commissions for illustration and have collaborated with a number of private presses on fine limited edition publications. I currently provide portraits for the People section of Prospect magazine.

I have a particular passion for portraits and figurative work, drawing inspiration from the people I see around me every day and from literature, cinema and music.

In my time I have worked as a cinema usher, cleaner, cook, shop assistant, bartender and architectural technician. I have also taught Art and Design and held senior positions in arts education. I was a founder director of one of the UK’s first online education companies, specialising in Art & Design. I have exhibited my work throughout the United Kingdom and in many countries worldwide, including Australia, China, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Spain and the United States.
